Chapter 1
Intro
2083aec3
Hey everyone, welcome back to WeSendit Tech Talk! I'm Simon, and I'm here with Anna. It's so good to have you all tuning in again for our second episode. Feels like we just started this podcast journey, but already so much has happened.
b3a3252d
Hi everyone! Oh, I'm honestly so excited—this is our first time really diving into WeSendit topics on the podcast. I mean, last time was more of an intro, but now we get to share all the cool stuff that's been happening behind the scenes. I've been waiting for this!
2083aec3
Yeah, and before we jump in, just a quick ask—if you like what we're doing, or even if you just have some feedback, please leave us a rating or a comment wherever you listen. It really helps us reach more people and, you know, keeps us motivated to keep improving.
b3a3252d
We love hearing from you, so don't be shy. Okay, Simon, should we get into the updates?
Chapter 2
Main Application Updates
2083aec3
So let's dive into our biggest application update - the advertising feature that officially launched on May 20th. This has been months in the making, and we're really excited about how it's rolled out.
b3a3252d
Here's how it works: if you're using our free tier, you'll now see carefully placed advertisements as part of your experience. But - and this is absolutely crucial - our paid plans maintain their completely ad-free experience. We were very intentional about this because we never want to compromise what makes our premium subscriptions valuable.
2083aec3
From an advertiser's perspective, this opens up some really compelling opportunities. You can reach our engaged user base through three primary placements: our signature desktop wallpaper ads that create maximum visual impact, and transfer ads that appear during the upload and download process when users are most engaged with the platform.
b3a3252d
Yeah, and for anyone out there who would like to advertise on wesendit.com, we've got some special offers right now, especially for our early partners. Just fill out the form at discover dot WeSendit dot com slash advertising and mention “Podcast”—you'll get a little something extra. I mean, why not, right?
2083aec3
And the ad placements are pretty flexible—backgrounds, upload, download screens, all that.
b3a3252d
And then, the Team Management feature! This is coming out in just a few days. It's been one of our most requested features, honestly. So, Pro accounts can invite up to five members, and Business accounts up to ten. Right now, it's for Web2 users, but Web3 integration is definitely on the roadmap.
2083aec3
This feature is perfect for agencies or small teams who need to collaborate but don't want to deal with a bunch of separate subscriptions. It's exclusive to Pro and Business, so it really adds value to those tiers.
b3a3252d
Totally. If you're running a small agency or a creative team, this is going to make your life so much easier. Just get the respective subscription, invite your Teammates and Boom—you now have your teammates in your account, shared Storage, send email transfer from shared mailboxes, all Contact Addresses in one address book, etc. etc.
2083aec3
Sounds wonderful, Anna. And i'm confident that this is just a small version of what team management could be. I mean, imagine extending storage, inviting clients with different roles to collaborate on the same files. There is so much more to deal with. But first, let's start with this and, as usual, develop with our community the best product.
b3a3252d
I'm so curious about users' feedback and how this feature will grow.
Chapter 3
Node Network Performance and Enterprise Onboarding
2083aec3
Alright, let's talk about the node network. So, right now we've got 90 nodes, with 30 of those running on Testnet or Mainnet. That's 800 terabytes of storage capacity, which is a good progress when you think about it. But, you know, it's not all smooth sailing. We've had some challenges balancing security and performance. Actually, I remember this one day—I was helping troubleshoot a node bottleneck, and it just hit me how much stability matters. Like, you can't just throw more nodes at the problem and hope it works.
b3a3252d
and it's not just about programming some software and calling it a day. It's really more like research and development, right? Every time we tweak something for security, it can impact performance, and vice versa. It's a balancing act.
2083aec3
i didn't really expect that when i was on the call with the team. That's why we revamped our node scoring system. We wanted to improve performance without giving up on security. And, honestly, the feedback from our community has been super helpful. Like, we couldn't have made these improvements without all the bug reports and suggestions.
b3a3252d
huge thank you to everyone who's been testing, reporting, and just being patient with us. The dev team is making real progress, and we're aiming to stabilize the network even more in the next few weeks. It's a team effort, for sure.
2083aec3
And on the enterprise side, Hosting Pilot has started onboarding customer backups, which is a big step for our B2B plans. But, just to be transparent, we've slowed down some of the onboarding while we focus on stability. It's better to get it right than to rush, you know?
b3a3252d
Absolutely. And we're working on a public dashboard for the node network, so everyone can see the stats and follow our progress. Transparency is key, especially as we grow. By the way: if our community has special wishes for the dashboard, just let us know - we can't promise anything, but we'll definitely drop a line to the dev's.
Chapter 4
Strategic Partnerships
2083aec3
Speaking of growth, let's talk partnerships. Our collaboration with OVHcloud is going strong. They're Europe's leading cloud provider, and being part of their Open Trusted Cloud program really helps us expand our reach, especially in Europe. We've got dedicated landing pages now for both storage users and providers, and the integration with OVHcloud's storage is moving forward nicely.
b3a3252d
and then there's Xanda in the UK. They're a big player in marketing, and working with them is helping us get the WeSendit message out in the UK and beyond. It's all about building that global network, and we definitely are on a good way.
2083aec3
With all these things done in the past months, i would say is moving fast. And, okay, I can't say too much yet, but we're also in talks with a really cool Web3 project. The idea is to help our node operators get even more out of their resources—more incentives, more collaboration. But, you know, one step at a time. First, we stabilize the network, then we roll out the new stuff.
b3a3252d
It's exciting, but we want to make sure the foundation is solid before we add more layers. Still, it's awesome to see how decentralized networks are becoming part of the standard infrastructure now. Partnerships like these really show how fast things are evolving.
Chapter 5
Future Roadmap
2083aec3
So, looking ahead—what's next? Well, Team Management is just about ready to launch, like we said. But there's also a new feature coming soon that will make sharing and collecting files way easier. I can't spill all the details yet, but it's gonna be a big upgrade for file management.
b3a3252d
Yeah, and I'm curious—what features do you all want to see next? Seriously, let us know. And, Simon, what do you think about the idea of a public transparency dashboard for the node network? I feel like that could really boost user trust, especially for enterprise clients.
2083aec3
Oh, totally. I mean, having that kind of transparency is huge. It shows we're not just talking the talk, we're actually showing the numbers. And for enterprises, that's a big deal. It could be the thing that tips the scale for onboarding new customers.
b3a3252d
Yeah, and it's not just about the tech—it's about building trust and community. That's what makes this space so interesting to me. Anyway, I think that's a good place to wrap up for today.
2083aec3
Agreed. Thanks so much for joining us, everyone. We really appreciate your support and feedback. We'll be back in two weeks with a new episode—next time, we're switching it up and talking about trends in the media and ICT industries, so don't miss it.
b3a3252d
Can't wait! Until then, keep sharing securely, and we'll see you soon. Bye, Simon!
2083aec3
Bye Anna, and bye everyone. Take care!
